A Week in June

"A Week in June" was painted in Albuquerque in June. So many hollyhocks within Old Town - I love their shape and character... especially these white ones - love the sun hitting them and the shadows are lovely to paint - I spent more time than usual on this piece - taking my time to think about each stroke, each value I chose, each layer I created - being careful to focus in on the two main actors - and I love how the right flower sits on the leaves below it and is tucked up against her neighbor.  I kept the background neutral so it would not compete with the center of attention.  "A Week in June" is now available!
