About the Artist

Jennifer Evenhus is a nationally acclaimed artist, holding the prestigious titles of Master Pastelist in the Pastel Society of America and Distinguished Pastelist in the Northwest Pastel Society. Jen is also a signature member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast, and a member of the American Impressionist Society.

As a Master Circle Member of IAPS (International Association of Pastel Societies), she has solidified her position as an accomplished artist. Jennifer’s recognition stems from her active involvement in professional associations, dedicated special studies, and a noteworthy presence in numerous international exhibitions, earning her well-deserved accolades and many awards. See below for more details.

Jen Evenhus is a nationally recognized, award winning artist. Her bold use of color is what first attracts the eye. Her subject is often paint itself, fascinated with the painterly effects one can achieve with pastels, or the wonderful transparency and opacity of oils.

Jen discovers magic in her subjects with simplification and exaggeration, using her trademark style “the beauty of imperfection,” revealing the soul of the subject with a unique, bold sense of color and design. Her work is contemporary with abstract leanings, creating in both pastel and oils.  Jennifer's work is often very abstract, using earthscapes (small areas of the landscape) as a starting point, she paints out most of the detail, leaving just enough for the viewer to journey into a new world.

Jen has been a popular national workshop instructor/coach for the last 18 years, giving “The Beauty of Imperfection” pastel workshops, traveling across the States to share her passion for pastels. She is currently on hiatus to focus on her own body of work. She has been published in magazines such as The Pastel Journal, American Artist Magazine, Pratique des Arts French Magazine, PSWC Magazine, and PSA Pastel-a-gram.

Jen’s award-winning work has been included in many National and International Juried Exhibits.
She received the Bill McEnroe Juror's Award for "French Kiss" (sunflowers) at NPS Intnl Juried 2021;

Best of Show in the 2020 Northwest Pastel Society 34th Annual International Juried Exhibition held at the Prestigious American Art Company Gallery in Tacoma, WA., Honorable Mention in the 2020 IAPS Exhibit in Dunedin, FL and President's Award (2nd Place) at the 2019 NPS 33rd International Juried Exhibit in Tacoma, WA.

Jen is a Pastel Society of America Master Pastelist, International Association of Pastel Societies Master Circle Member, Northwest Pastel Society Distinguished Pastelist, and Pastel Society of the West Coast Signature Member. Jen is also a member of the American Impressionist Society.
